Why Straighten?

The thing I don't understand is, why do girls who have beautiful wavy or curly hair straighten it? I have straight hair and I would love it if it had some curl and bounce to it. I feel like everyone has straight hair and those with curly hair really stand out and always get compliments on how nice their hair is. So I really don't understand why they would flat iron it using 400 degree heat for straight hair. Just let it be strong and beautiful all on its own! Like I said before, I would love to have curly hair, but I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

The difficulty is, you can't really do much with most peoples' curly hair. Few lucky people have those silky, perfect curls that you see on TV ( Which, by the way, are styled and not natural). Wheras with straight hair, there are so many possibilities! Any style looks good with straight hair, no matter how short or long. The unfortunate truth is... many people that have curly/wavy hair also have frizzy or unmanageable hair. Oh, the things I would do for a sleek, straight hair texture...

.. yea usually people who have curly.. want straight.. and straight haired people want curly.. i have no idea why .. but thats just how it works :]

I have curly hair and I lvoe it, it may get poofy some times,but it is to have and its to do things that otehrs cant do with their straignt hair, i it!!!

I think everyone wants what they don't have. I have VERY curly hair that is very hard to control and I have to straighten it or it seems like I don't even comb it. I would to be able to get up in the morning and brush my hair and be ready! I look like a lion most days!

I have straight brown hair and it! But the majority of girls that have straight hair want it to be curly or wavy, and the majority of curly/wavy haired people want straight hair. I really don't understand it. But if you want wavy/curly hair, you can use curling irons or get a pernament.

I have straight hair (well every year its gettin wavier ) and yeah i would like kill for curls cuz my straight hair doesnt hold any curl and its annoying because to me straight hair is boring and anyone could just straighten there hair. everyone wants what they dont have basiclly.

i thought the same thing, when i was little i had curls in my hair, then i cut my hair super short and u couldnt tell if my hair was curly or straight, then it grew back in straight. so after a couple years my mom told me if i got a perm my natural curls might come back, and after the perm wore off i did get my natural curls back, and now the odd thing is that i wish i'd neveeeer gotten that stupid perm and gotten my curls back.
